The following email is to the Club's President from the CWGA.
MEMO
TO: CWGA Member Club Presidents
FROM: Dawn McConkey, Director of Member Services
SUBJECT: Club President Update
DATE: June 3, 2010
Greetings club presidents! Hope your golf season is going well. I have included just a few brief CWGA news items to pass along to your club officers and membership. Membership
Member Play Days - In last year's membership survey, we heard that CWGA members would like to take advantage of some informal golf outings that are organized by our association. Member Play Days are that chance to play at some outstanding courses throughout Colorado...private and resort. Come out to see us and bring your friends! Visit the Member Play Days web page for more information and to get registered. (Additional registration instructions.) The next play day is at CC of Colorado on Monday, July 12th and is a 1:00pm shotgun with lunch served beginning at 11:30am. Register on or before July 5th.
- Affiliate Membership Pilot Program - Tell your friends who like to play golf but do not want a USGA Handicap Index or do not want to be eligible to compete in CWGA Championships that they can now join the CWGA, too! These members will receive all other benefits of CWGA membership (CommonGround 20% green fee discounts, Member Play Days access, news about lessons and clinics, and much more), but they will not have to join a women's club. Link to the Affiliate Membership Application.
CWGA Championships - Registration for Junior Match Play is open through Wednesday, June 9, and Junior Stroke Play will be open through Friday, June 18. Registration for CWGA Match Play and the Stableford will open on Friday, June 25. (Remember, the location of the two-woman Stableford Championship is now going to be held at the Rio Grande Club in South Fork rather than at Cougar Canyon Golf Links in Trinidad. The dates of August 24-25 remain the same.) See further details and the rest of the 2010 schedule.
Other Notes
- Rounds of Golf up for Bid! - The Colorado Golf Hall of Fame's silent auction is open now through midnight of Monday, June 14th. Bid on rounds of golf at many terrific golf courses all around Colorado and others in Arizona. Lessons and hotel accomodations are available as well. See the Items up for Auction and Learn How to Place Your Bid
- PGA Women's Golf Activities
- June is Women's Golf Month - Click here to find activities specially held for women at courses throughout Colorado. If your home course isn't on the list, ask them to consider taking part for next year!
Family Golf Day - To be held at City Park GC in Denver on Saturday, June 26 from 1:00-5:00pm. Visit the PGA Colorado Section website for more details.
As noted below, if you wish to unsubscribe from this email, you may do so. However, this means as a club officer you may not receive other golf-related news from the CWGA staff throughout the upcoming year to communicate to your membership.

New Membership Initiatives - To address the requests (from the 2009 CWGA Member Survey) for more social golf and learning opportunities, the following have been added to the 2010 golf schedule or benefits are soon to come:
The CWGA Experience - CWGA members and non-members alike were invited to attend an afternoon of golf instruction in a low-key, fun environment at CommonGround GC on Saturday, April 24th (then rescheduled to Sunday, May 2nd due to weather). The event was attended by 52 women who enjoyed themselves and learned a lot! Overall, the event was very well-received. To read more about The CWGA Experience, read Gary Baines' CWGA Experience article. The CWGA anticipates conducting similar events in the future in different parts of the state.

Affiliate Membership Pilot Program - A new membership opportunity for golfers who do not want a USGA Handicap Index or do not want to be eligible to compete in CWGA Championships. These members will receive all other benefits of CWGA membership but will not have to join a women's club. The program was launched on May 2nd at The CWGA Experience.
CWGA Headwear - Golfers now have the opportunity to buy CWGA logo'd Imperial Headwear through the Colorado Golf website. Here is the direct link to the Imperial eStore.
CWGA Facebook Fan Page - Become a CWGA fan by going to Facebook! This will be a new place that we can update you with CWGA news and share photos.
Other Membership Notes
Membership Cards - Membership cards in past years were mailed to golfers' homes in the spring issue of the Colorado Golf newsletter; however, the CWGA/CGA are no longer publishing the newsletter. Membership cards will now be mailed to club handicap chairs. These were mailed in April, and cards should be distributed to your club members if they haven't already.
Colorado AvidGolfer Golf Guide - The 2010 golf guide is finished! All golfers with mailing addresses in the GHIN Handicap Computer as of April 1 will receive the guide at their home address. If members do not receive their copy, they can contact the CWGA office to have one mailed or check at the local course for extra copies.
CWGA Championships - Registration for several events is currently open. Those events are Stroke Play, Junior Match Play, and Junior Stroke Play. See further details and the rest of the 2010 schedule. One change to note is to the location of the two-woman Stableford Championship. The event is now going to be held at the Rio Grande Club in South Fork rather than at Cougar Canyon Golf Links in Trinidad. The dates of August 24-25 remain the same.
Junior Golf - LPGA-USGA Girls Golf programs around Colorado are dedicated to giving girls, ages 7 to 17, of all abilities, the chance to learn to play golf, build lasting friendships, and experience golf in a fun and supportive environment. Call the CWGA for information on programs in Arvada, Colorado Springs, Loveland, Denver, Grand Junction, and Highlands Ranch. For information about the Aurora program, click here.

Please read through the following items and update your clubs contact information (see Club Information Updates section) prior to December 16, 2009.

Please Click Here for instructions and to begin the club update process.

Club President Tips - In the most recent Presidents Update email, we asked for your feedback from your experience as club president. We are wanting to hear your nuggets of information that helped you successfully run your club, as well as tips of some things that maybe did not work so well for you. We would like to include club-specific information for a ~How To Run a Golf Club~ session for presidents at the 2010 CWGA Annual Meeting. Please email any feedback that you have to dawn@COgolf.org. Thank you in advance!
One more very important point: the continuity of the operation of your club is dependent upon good communication of your club activities, as well as the CWGA activities, to your club members. Please pass on information to the incoming president and appropriate officers. I cannot stress this point enough.
The CWGA is looking forward to 2010. We continue to try to find new ways to enhance the services we provide to our clubs and individual members and welcome your comments.
Thank you!
Dawn
