2010 MWGA Board Meeting

The meeting was called to order.
Present: Brooke; Deb; Ann; Kate; Teri; Nancy; Also attending was Monica Thompson to discuss plans for the member/guest day, 8/31
Reports:
Teri Reinig explained payouts for our Championship Tournament. Flights with 1-3 players will pay first gross; 4-6 players will pay first gross and first net; 7-9 players will pay first and second gross and first net.
Monica discussed Member/Guest Day on August 31st. The field will be limited to 12 or 13 foursomes. The guest day will have a Casino theme and free mulligans will be available.
Beat the Pro will be one of our weekly games, possibly on September 14th.
The board discussed appointing a nominating committee. Several names were suggested.

2010 MWGA Board Meeting

The meeting was called to order.

Reports:
Minutes from April 6th approved.
Treasurers Report: Balance $4427.83
State of the League: Running smoothly.
There was discussion of OB encroachment in front of #4 tee box. Kate will check with CWGA.
Winter kill has been discussed with course management and the decision is “Play it as it lies”.
Bench plaque on #11 will be installed shortly.
Ringer tournament:
Teri Reining is compiling a list of Rules and Information to clarify any questions regarding the tournament.
June 1st will be the handicap revision for the entire Ringer tournament.
On May 26th, Brooke and Monica attended a meeting with JoAnn, Judy and Judith from Foothills to discuss the District Cup. Unfortunately, the gross/net scoring format proposed by Foothills is unacceptable to the Meadows board. After lengthy discussion, Brooke on behalf of the board and with support from the professional staff, will compose an email to JoAnn at Foothills stating that we recommend team match play using net score for one point per hole like used for B team. She will send it to the board for approval before sending to Foothills. We will wait for a response from them to decide if we will play the District Cup this year or not.
Guest Day:
Tentatively, 1 guest per member will be allowed. There will be a $20 entry fee plus 18 hole greens fee + cart. Lunch discussion is still on hold.

2010 MWGA Board Meeting

The meeting was called to order.
Reports:

Tournaments - Teri Reinig nominated

Discussion of Payouts for Playdays:
The number of places paid will be determined by the number of people participating in the flights. Four flights will be used – Championship, A, B and C.
Playday Chairman, Treasurer and President will meet to discuss the payout budget prior to the beginning of the season.

Flights and payouts will be determined by the number of people participating in the tournament.
Orientation Breakfast:
The agenda was discussed. Members nominated to fill empty board positions will be voted on by the membership. There will be a raffle, we’ll discuss the handbook and identify advertisers, and we’ll ask Tom to discuss the new timeframe for spending book money. Teri will help w/ decorations and Kate will help with golf ball favors.
There will be name tags for members and new members will be assigned mentors to welcome them to the club and answer questions on club procedures and course play.
Invitations have been extended to Tom Woodard, Bob Lewis, and Sue Maguire.
Cathy announced there will be a rules section on the web.
Kate compiled a document from previous year’s information to clarify year-end awards/engravings, guidelines for a budget and board members responsible for each to put in their books.
The bench plaque in Jeannie Barker's memory on #11 will be replaced in the near future.
Brooke will send out a welcome email to all members reminding them about the orientation and to sign up for tee times for April and May.
The Bulletin Board will contain pictures of board members and new members to help folks get acquainted.

The meeting was called to order.
Reports:
Ann: Minutes from January 26th approved.
Dee: At present, our check balance for the league is $4976.08
Presently, 37 members have signed up including 6 new members.
Kate:
League will receive one bill from CWGA for membership and associates in late May.
Handicaps for Play days and Tournaments will be divided into 4 flights and maintain an 8 to 10 stroke spread within the flights.
Cathy:
The Friday before a scheduled tournament will be the sign-up deadline for tournament play.
New Business:
Lyn Magette (Rules Chairman) attended a two day rules seminar hosted by CGA. Some of the new rules additions will be discussed at our Orientation Breakfast on April 20th.
Memorial Bench: Maintenance on the memorial bench for Jennie Barker on #11 will be discussed with course maintenance management. A replacement plaque will be purchased for the bench.
Losing Play days to Weather: Money from canceled days will be dispersed at the board's discretion for such items as: Player Appreciation Days; A free drink day; etc.
Orientation Day: A mentor system for new members will be used on Orientation Day. A list of commonly asked questions, with answers, will be made available to new members.
Brooke, Kate, and Nancy will meet after the general meeting to identify items for a document to clarify year-end awards. The discussion will concern:
1. Who is responsible for obtaining awards.
2. What awards are given.
3. A general budget based on membership.
4. How awards are determined.
The document will be included in the social, handicap, play day, tournament, and president books.

General Business:
Brooke, Dee & Teri will audit the 2009 book, i.e. budget.
Carryover balance from 2009 budget: $1830.
Kate Scherrer, Handicap Chairman reported:
· Season opens March 15th
· Handicap revisions will be the 1st and 15th of each month
· The Meadows course has been re-rated:
· Red tees were 69.7 now 70.5
· Slope was 125 now 128
Teri Reinig submitted a tentative playday schedule. A revised final edition will be made available by Orientation, April 20th.
The 2010 Membership Application is available on our MWGA website.
Dues remain:
$90 for new members
$85 for returning member
$ 5 for hole in one pool (optional)
$40 for associates
The CWGA meeting at Inverness on February 27th will be attended by two board members.
The board voted for and passed that we pay the new charge for the “Domain Name” for our website and add it to the budget – cost $15 annually.
Discussion for a paperless membership book (i.e. computer only) was tabled for discussion and a vote by the membership in the fall. We will have a membership book for the 2010 season.
District Cup will continue in 2010. Dates: July 1st & July 6th.
The “B” Team schedule has been set for 2010. Starting times for May, 9am. Will switch to 8am for June, July, and August. Then back to 9am for September.
